History of Calvary Baptist Church

Calvary Baptist Church began on Mother's Day, May 9, 1976, with its first service being held at Santa Fe High School's auditorium. The founding pastor was Ronald A. Osteen (1976-1986). The first Sunday of June 1976, services were moved to the Alachua Women's Club where the church was to continue until the first Sunday in August 1979, when it moved to its present location.

In 1986, Jim Riley became the second pastor of the church. He had previously been the youth pastor. After two years, Jerry Milton became pastor, and remained so for fifteen years. Jack Mount was the interim pastor for one year.  In 2006, Marty Basinger became the fourth pastor and remained so for 12 years.  Evangelist CT Spear then served as our interim pastor for 2 years.

In August of 2020 James Bramblet became the fifth pastor of Calvary Baptist.  We look forward to many years of serving the Lord together.
